Citron Networks and Post Increment announce joint agreement to accelerate Open Source H.323 and SIP development |
TAIPEI, Taiwan and SYDNEY, Australia (16 February, 2004)
Citron Networks, a leader in value added network communications solutions, and
Post Increment, a specialist developer of Open Source VoIP solutions and services, announced today an agreement to collaborate on improving
applications and code available from the OpenH323 project.
Under this new agreement, Citron will provide funding to Post Increment for a predefined number of man-hours per month to accelerate development
on specific OpenH323 features that are of importance to both companies and to the OpenH323 community. The code changes developed under this
agreement will be donated back to the OpenH323 project under the same Open Source license as the existing code.
The scope of the agreement covers not only the existing OpenH323 protocol stack and applications, but also the combined OPAL stack that
contains both H.323 and SIP protocol implementations. One of the first tasks to be completed will be support for codec plugins, which will
allow for easier addition of new audio and video encoding methods.
"This agreement will help ensure that OpenH323 and OPAL stay at the leading edge of VoIP software development, and it provides an example of
how Open Source development can be a cost-effective way for companies to achieve specific business goals", stated Craig Southeren, Post Increment.
"Through our cooperation with Post Increment, Citron Network can keep it's position as a leading company in the VoIP field. This will help to reduce the time to market of our products. The Open Source development also helps to mature VoIP products and enlarges the market for all companies", said Daniel Lee, the CEO of Citron Network Inc.
Citron Network Inc. is a leading VoIP solution and service provider in Taiwan and China, with twenty thousand registered users and three million minutes of monthly traffic, and is committed to Open Source development for VoIP.
